How to play Block or Not?
Block or Not? is a friendship quiz that asks one question: who really knows you? You make a quiz about yourself, send it to your friends, and the scoreboard shows who passed and who gets the BLOCKED stamp. It takes about two minutes to make one. Here is how it works.
Step 1: Make your quiz
On the home page, tap Make your quiz. Type your name and choose a little animal avatar. The name appears on the quiz your friends will see, so use the name they know you by: a nickname is fine.
You will then see questions one at a time. For each question, tap the answer that is really true for you. The quiz only works if you are honest, because your friends are scored against your answers.
- Don't like a question? Tap Another one to swap it for a different question.
- Want something personal? Tap Write my own. Type your own question, four possible answers, and then tap the one that is true. Inside jokes work really well here.
After 10 questions, your quiz is ready.
Step 2: Share the link
Your quiz gets its own link. Tap Share on WhatsApp to send it straight to a chat, or tap Copy next to the link (or Copy message) and paste it on Instagram, Snapchat or anywhere else. Posting it on your status or story is the fastest way to get lots of friends playing.
The quiz lives inside the link itself, so there is no account to create and no password to remember. Anyone with the link can play.
Step 3: Your friends play
When a friend opens your link, they type their name, pick an avatar and answer the same 10 questions, trying to guess what you chose. They get a few fun tools along the way:
- 50-50 lifeline: removes two wrong answers, once per game.
- Combo streaks: getting several right in a row gives a little celebration.
- Their own language: friends can switch the language from the menu at the top. You can make the quiz in Roman Urdu and your friend can play it in English, German or Arabic. The questions translate automatically. Questions you wrote yourself stay as you typed them.
Step 4: Check the scoreboard
When a friend finishes, they see their score out of 10 and a verdict from you. A high score earns them "best friend" status. A very low score earns the famous BLOCKED stamp. It is all just for fun, of course.
To see the scoreboard, go to the home page on the phone or computer you used to make the quiz. Your quizzes are listed there: tap one to open its scoreboard and find out who knows you best. If a friend's score could not reach the scoreboard, they can tap Copy score and send you the code. Paste it in the box under your scoreboard and tap Add.
Tips for a better quiz
- Mix easy and hard questions. A couple of easy ones keep everyone playing, and a couple of tricky ones separate your true best friends from everyone else.
- Write at least one custom question. Something only your closest people would know, like your worst haircut or the song you always sing in the car.
- Don't tell anyone your answers. Obviously.
- Make a new quiz now and then. Your answers change over time, and a fresh quiz is a good excuse to see who is still paying attention.
Is it free?
Yes. Block or Not? is completely free to play and to create quizzes. The site is supported by ads.
